Meaning of Home Official Site
Do you know any children in Grades 4 to 6 who love writing and helping others?
The Meaning of Home contest is back for it’s 15th year on January 3rd! The contest invites students in grades 4, 5, and 6 to submit a poem or essay explaining what home means to them. The Meaning of Home contest, in support of Habitat for Humanity, is a great opportunity for students to learn about giving back to their community and the importance of having a safe home while improving their creative writing skills and raising money for their local Habitat organization. Each submission entered in the contest provides your local Habitat with a $10 donation from Sagen™, founding sponsor of the contest.

Three grand prize winners, who will receive $30,000 for their local Habitat, and 9 runner up winners, who will receive $10,000 for their local Habitat, will also receive prizes for themselves and their class.
We’re asking for submissions on the #MeaningOfHome for the chance to change a family’s life. The winner of each grade will win a $30,000 grant for their local Habitat, among other prizes!

Students in Windsor-Essex get an even greater opportunity!  If you are chosen as a Grand Prize or Runner Up you will also be invited to attend the Ground Breaking or Key Ceremony to read your winning poem and meet the homeowners that your winning submission is helping to build their home.

Past Runner's Up
Local students' submissions have provided $26,000 in building materials
