Kingsville home dedication December 2019

Thank you for building Kingsville in 2019

With the help of the community and through the hard work and dedication of these two families, Christmas 2019 marked the first Holiday two families would spend in the comfort of their own home.  Housing insecurity now a distant memory, two families look forward to making memories each day in their forever homes.

build #66 the Charmaine and Melody Christmas homecoming

Ribbon cutting with Charmaine and Melody
Habitat for Humanity Windsor-Essex was excited to  build in Kingsville in 2019 with the Ford Family, helping them build a safe, decent, affordable home that they can call their own.
Sons, Kaleb and Dakota have a rare autoimmune disorder and their mother Melody is challenged by mobility issues due to complications from birth.

What does a Habitat Home mean for the Fords?  A dream long since forgotten.  Melody is now able to move safely and freely in an accessible home designed to meet her needs and allow her to care for herself and her family without fear of falls and trip hazards.  The boys are free from the worry of contamination in their brand new home – with defined space for homeschooling allowing both Melody and Charmaine the space needed to help the boys learn and grow.  That sense of security and well being is priceless.  Health of their family no longer in question, the Ford Family has been able to put down roots and focus on their lives together and the future for their happy family.

build #67 Nicole and Serifam - home for the holidays

Ribbon cutting Kingsville 2019
Nicole and Serafim, with their two sons Dean and Logan now have a real HOME.
The Fortunas had been navigating the waters of the overpriced rental market and geared to income housing wait lists for years. With the current housing sales market they had been flipped out of their homes so many times the boys no longer unpacked. The temporary accommodations they managed to find were in areas where crime flourished, with rents that left the family financially overwhelmed. The Fortunas yearned to establish permanence in their community and provide the stability and security for their sons.

With your support the boys now know that they can graduate from the high school they have started and feel the sense of belonging and hope that only HOME provides.
