The Repair Revolution helps low-income homeowners impacted by age, disability and family circumstances, who struggle to maintain their homes, resolve health & safety deficiencies in an affordable way and remain in the home with pride and dignity. We prioritize critical repairs, recognizing that safe and healthy living conditions are fundamental rights. With the support of our dedicated team of volunteers, corporate partners, and sponsors, we undertake repairs that go beyond bricks and mortar. Most importantly, The Repair Revolution is part of Habitat’s Neighbourhood Revitalization strategy, a holistic approach, which assists communities as well as families.
An important component of Habitat’s program is that services are repaid by low-income homeowners, not given away. HFHWE believes that low-income families need capital, not charity.
Transformational Partnerships – Creating first steps into affordable housing
We have extended our reach by engaging in a transformative social enterprise venture, designed to directly support fast housing of families needing shelter. Collaborating with geared-to-income housing providers, we take on repairs for geared-to-income rental units that have languished vacant for extended periods. As over 7,000 individuals anxiously await access to geared-to-income housing, we step in to refurbish these units, breathing life back into neglected spaces. The funds generated through these contracts are reinvested into our Repair Program, effectively channeling resources from vacant spaces to essential safety enhancements. Our program thus becomes a bridge, connecting the homeless to homes and creating a cycle of positive impact.
