An expansion of the Repair Revolution Program will allow us to help more residents locally, and across Ontario!
Three Habitat hubs. A coordinated approach to emergency readiness.
Habitat for Humanity Windsor-Essex is building on our housing repair experience to help communities prepare for emergencies and support residents in their recovery. With support from the Province of Ontario, we are coordinating three Habitat Emergency Hubs in Windsor-Essex, Hamilton and Northumberland as part of Ontario Corps.
Together, we are recruiting volunteers, providing safety and practical skills training, and equipping teams to assist communities affected by flooding, wind damage and extreme weather. Each hub is developing its local response capacity, with Windsor-Essex providing central coordination, sharing resources and supporting consistent preparation across the network.
Our work includes preparing volunteers to help with sandbagging, debris removal, water damage remediation and emergency home repairs, within their training and assigned roles. We are also planning mock deployments so teams can practice using equipment, communicating across hubs and working together under skilled leadership.
The goal is to help stabilize affected homes, support safe recovery and reduce the risk of residents being displaced for longer than necessary. By investing in people, equipment and coordinated planning, we are strengthening the practical support available to communities when emergencies occur.
Want to make a real difference?
We welcome volunteers with experience in construction, repairs, kitchen salvage and skilled trades, along with people who are ready to learn. Students pursuing careers in emergency services and community members interested in supporting recovery efforts are encouraged to get involved. Training is provided to help volunteers contribute safely.
